Weather conditions along the Mardi Himal Trek vary according to altitude and season. For the best trekking experience, Unique Sherpa Trek & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. recommends trekking during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when skies remain clear, temperatures are comfortable, and mountain visibility is exceptional.
Spring transforms the forests into vibrant gardens of blooming rhododendrons and wildflowers, while autumn offers crystal-clear Himalayan views and pleasant trekking conditions.
The Mardi Himal Trek generally takes 5 to 8 days, depending on the itinerary and trekking pace. Daily trekking ranges from 4 to 7 hours, making it one of Nepal's most accessible Himalayan adventures.
Although shorter than many classic trekking routes, the Mardi Himal Trek rewards visitors with spectacular mountain scenery, peaceful nature, rich culture, and unforgettable Himalayan experiences in a relatively short period.
The Mardi Himal Trek offers much more than reaching a mountain viewpoint. It is a remarkable journey through lush forests, panoramic ridges, authentic villages, alpine landscapes, and breathtaking Himalayan scenery.
Throughout the trek, adventurers enjoy magnificent views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain), Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Lamjung Himal, and numerous surrounding Himalayan peaks. The sunrise and sunset over these snow-covered mountains create unforgettable memories for every trekker.
Reaching Mardi Himal Base Camp is the ultimate highlight of the trek. The base camp offers breathtaking close-up views of Machhapuchhre and the Annapurna Massif, allowing trekkers to experience one of Nepal's finest Himalayan viewpoints away from the crowds. Standing beneath these towering peaks provides an unforgettable sense of achievement.
High Camp (3,580m) is another spectacular highlight of the trek. Located on a scenic ridgeline, High Camp offers incredible sunrise and sunset views over the Annapurna range while serving as the final overnight stop before reaching Mardi Himal Base Camp.
The trek passes through the Annapurna Conservation Area, Nepal's largest conservation area. Trekkers explore rhododendron forests, oak woodlands, bamboo groves, alpine grasslands, and diverse wildlife habitats that are home to Himalayan monals, pheasants, langurs, musk deer, Himalayan tahr, and numerous bird species. Spring is particularly beautiful when colorful rhododendrons bloom across the hillsides.
The Mardi Himal Trek passes through beautiful Himalayan villages, including Kande, Australian Camp, Forest Camp, Low Camp, High Camp, and Siding, each offering traditional hospitality, local cuisine, and spectacular mountain scenery.
Mardi Himal is a peak located in the Annapurna region of Nepal, rising to an altitude of 5,587 meters. The Mardi Himal Trek primarily traverses the lower regions of this peak, offering spectacular views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and Mardi Himal itself. The journey typically begins in Pokhara, a popular tourist hub, from where a short drive takes trekkers to Kande or Phedi, the usual starting points of the trek.
The trek can be completed in 5 to 7 days, making it a relatively short trek compared to others in the region. The standard route takes trekkers through a variety of landscapes, from lush green forests to alpine meadows and high ridges. The Mardi Himal Trek is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes. The trek offers some of the most stunning views in the Himalayas, including close-up vistas of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machapuchare, as well as sweeping panoramas of the entire Annapurna range. The trek also takes you through diverse ecosystems, from subtropical forests and rhododendron groves to rugged high-altitude terrain.
One of the unique aspects of this trek is the Mardi Himal Base Camp, situated at 4,500 meters, which provides an unparalleled vantage point to observe the towering peaks and the dramatic landscapes of the Annapurna Sanctuary.
While the natural beauty of the Mardi Himal Trek is a significant draw, the cultural experience is equally enriching. The trail passes through several traditional villages where trekkers can experience the local lifestyle and hospitality. The Gurung and Magar communities dominate this region, known for their rich cultural heritage, traditional architecture, and warm hospitality. Staying in local teahouses provides an intimate glimpse into the daily lives of these communities.
The Mardi Himal Trek is a journey through a rich tapestry of flora and fauna. The lower altitudes are covered with lush rhododendron, oak, and bamboo forests, which gradually give way to alpine meadows and barren high-altitude landscapes. This diverse range of habitats supports a variety of wildlife, including deer, monkeys, and numerous bird species, making the trek a paradise for nature lovers.
The Mardi Himal Trek is suitable for trekkers of moderate fitness levels, although some sections can be steep and challenging. The best time to undertake this trek is during the pre-monsoon (March to May) and post-monsoon (September to November) seasons. During these periods, the weather is generally clear and stable, offering the best views of the mountains and the vibrant blooming of rhododendrons in spring.
Accommodation along the Mardi Himal Trek is primarily in teahouses, which provide basic but comfortable lodging and meals. Welcome to you all my honorable guests in Nepal. When you guys landed time we were standing outside on the ground of the airport. I or my staff is ready to welcome you at the airport when you come out. after that, we were ready to go hotel. the vehicle is there ready to pick up you. so we are together until to your hotel we reach the hotel. the hotel staff is ready to welcome you with juice, tea, or water and what they have. and take a moment to rest over there. so after half an hour's rest, you will go to the market for some shopping for the trek which is important that gives you advice from your guide.
The earlier morning we had breakfast at the hotel. the tourist bus is at 7 o'clock and leaves from Kathmandu. it takes to time 7-8 hours to get to Pokhara. the Kathmandu to Pokhara drive is a fantastic road like snakes. we will see Greenland, Trishuli River, and Riverside Resort, doubling as the lunch spots. the food is standard roadside fare- dal-bhat, vegetable noodles, and many items as you like.
we will see some mountains too. the road passes many small villages, and rural towns and the scenes from the window. We must cross the Trishuli River bridge through Dumre to the Pokhara.
Today we are going to trek uphill. After your breakfast vehicle is ready on the ground at your hotel. and The vehicle picks up you still in Kade village. The kade elevation is (1,770m). From Kade, have to start our trek 1, and half hour climb up to the beautiful viewpoint and hamlet of Australian camp. there are altitudes of (2,100m). now from the Australian camp to Pothana and Deurali is an easier way just flat. where we are staying the first night.
On this day also has breakfast at the hotel and continues to walk. From Deurali we leaving the Annapurna base camp trail because we are going to the Mardi Himal base camp trek. From the right side continue along a quiet trail through a dense forest of oak, maple, hemlock, and rhododendron. When we walk for 4 hours to get lunch place is called forest camp. there are 5-6 tea houses. we spent the time for lunch 1-hour break and again continued the to low camp inside the forest climb up. where we spend the second night there are 4-5 lodges.
2-hours climb through the rhododendron forest takes us to the middle camp via Badal Dada offers a stunning view of Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, Himachali, and Gangapurna. Machhapuchhre and Mardi Himal itself. the trail continues along the Mardi Himal ridge mainly on grass and some isolated rhododendron bushes along the way. we will see colorful Danphe, pheasant on this section of the trail. the lodge is the biggest and most beautiful top of the hill than the low camp and forest camp. we will see panoramic mountain views, the landscape from high camp, and Pokhara city so we can see from there. where we going to sleep high elevation today and this is our last camp also for the high elevation.
The plan for today is to wake up early morning for a sunrise view of the mountain and walk up the ridge toward the Mardi Himal base camp. there are well-established trails through the grass with a couple of steeper sections however overall not too challenging. in the summer the sheep and goats are brought from lower villages to graze in this area so you will pass several herder's huts along the way. after 3 hours we should reach base camp at the elevation (4,515m) where you enjoy the panorama and spectacular views. ok, we enjoyed the view half an hour from base camp and then descended back to high camp had lunch, and back to low camp for the night.
On the way back to descend, we take a different route completing a circuit from low camp. there is a trail that goes down to the Siding village rather than going back down Mardi Himal back to Kokar. Siding is the traditional Nepalese village and is still very much away from the busier modern tourist trek and you will likely stay at a homestay in siding. it is a wonderful cultural experience finding out more about village life and you will probably eat traditional food in the evening with the family in their kitchen.
From Siding, you walk out the road heading to Lumre, on the way from Siding you will pass the village of Kalimati and Ghalel. The Kalimati is a mainly Brahmin village with Ghale and siding mixed baramin and Gurung. At Lumre you will meet Jeep it's organized by (the Unique Sherpa Trek & expedition) company. when you will catch the jeep and drive back to Pokhara.
In the morning had breakfast in the hotel B&B includes a hotel. after breakfast prepare the luggage and be ready to go to the airport for the flight. It drops you from the hotel at the domestic airport. The car is arranged by the company. Pokhara to Kathmandu is just 25 minutes only by flight.
No, if you don't want to ride an airplane you have to go by tourist bus also available there. The hotel provides you with a drop till at the tourist bus park and you could catch the bus and drive to Kathmandu. it is 7-8 hours to get to Kathmandu by bus. Today is the last night in Nepal so today provided a farewell dinner together by the company to all of you.
If you've just completed a trek or a journey, departing may involve returning home, celebrating your achievements, and taking a well-deserved break. Departing might be an opportunity to rest, recover, and reflect on your recent adventure before planning the next one. Reconnecting with family and friends after an expedition can be a fulfilling aspect of departing.
NOTE: If you return earlier from the trek due to sickness or any problem, the money you paid for the flight, hotel, mountain room, food, etc. It will not be refundable, and you will need to bear the expenses for the hotel, food, etc. in Kathmandu yourself.
